Wine
With over 120 vineyards throughout the Hunter, a map (available at the Tabitha Hill Cottage or at the Hunter Valley Wine Country Visitors Information Centre) will indicate where all the places of interest are located. Most have Cellar Doors and give wine tasting opportunities. Many have their own restaurants. Galleries and specialist shops dot the area. A number of local companies provide specialized and knowledgeable transport through the vineyards. The vineyard area stretches from Cessnock up the Valley and past Denman. A drive through the Valley provides views of picturesque scenery but panoramic views can be seen from Bimbadeen Lookout off Kendall Street.in Bellbird, just ten minutes from Tabitha Hill Cottage, or, further, up Pokolbin Mountain Road, past Tinklers Vineyard..

From the air…
Try ballooning, skydiving, aerobatics or helicopter joy flights – all available in less than half an hour’s drive from Tabitha Hill Cottage.

… to the ground.
Go horse riding. Spend time bushwalking in the Watgans or bushwalking and cycling in the Werakata National Park. In Mt Yengo National Park you can see fine examples of Aboriginal rock carving. Try your hand at fishing in Lake St Clair. A quiet drive around the Vineyards – catch the sight of a mob of Kangaroos grazing in the late afternoon or the rare and magical sight of a Wedgetail Eagle soaring over the countryside.

Events
Each year a number of concerts are held in some of the vineyards. These feature well-known, internationally renowned artists. Annual events include Opera in the Vineyards, Jazz in the Vines, Lovedale Long Lunch and Sculpture in the Vines. Tabitha Hill Cottage is well-located for all these events. Also, we are prepared to accept one-night bookings.

There are many Clubs and Hotels in and around Cessnock providing evening entertainment and restaurant facilities. There are a myriad of restaurants associated with the Vineyards with menus to satisfy virtually any taste.

An important and major attraction for the district is the newly opened  Cessnock Performing Arts Centre.
